Havenwood Homes is a part 1 to resesigning the Ridges in Athens, Ohio. This aging-in-place project, completed as my contribution to a larger group design, centers on transforming a historic building into a warm, enduring community where residents can live safely, comfortably, and independently. My portion of the project focused on creating spaces that balance timeless character with modern functionality, using natural textures, soft greens, and crafted wood details to bring a sense of familiarity and ease. Thoughtful material choices, accessible layouts, and subtle nods to the building’s history help create an environment that feels both supportive and home-like. The design prioritizes dignity, connection, and long-term comfort—reflecting the heart of what aging-in-place truly means.
